Story:
Mei has always been the perfect daughter, balancing top grades, devotion to her family’s temple, and an unshakable bond with her mother who keeps her closer than most thirteen-year-olds would tolerate balance shatters overnight when a surge of strong emotion suddenly transforms her into a giant red panda, a hereditary trait passed down through generations of women in her family that she never knew existed. As she scrambles to hide this from her friends and control the outbursts that keep triggering it, she also has navigate a boy band obsession, a concert she desperately wants to attend, and a mother determined to suppress the very thing Mei starting to feel proud of. The closer her transformation gets to becoming permanent the more she has to choose between the version of herself her family expects and the one she is actually becoming.
